The locals don't lie. Really authentic Taiwanese beef noodle. The noodles here are thinner, the broth flavorful and the meat tender and juicy. It's an expensive bowl of noodles, but I don't blame them considering how much work goes into this bowl of goodness. Cash only!

*** Michelin Bib Gourmand *** ** Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants: Hall of Fame ** Don't let the mixed reviews fool you! Dai Ho Restaurant in Temple City, without a doubt, makes one of the absolute best beef noodle soups in all of San Gabriel Valley and the Greater Los Angeles area. This opinion comes from someone who loves the dish and orders it frequently. Dai Ho had been in my bookmarks forever, but being that this place is only open 3 hours a day (11:30am - 2:30pm), 6 days per week, it's definitely a meal you need to plan your day around, especially if you don't live in the area. So, that's what I decided to do this past Saturday. As I didn't know what to expect in terms of a line/wait time, I ended up getting here about 20 minutes before opening. I believe I was the first one there, and while a few additional parties came prior to opening, I wouldn't say it's very necessary. There were quite a few open tables throughout my meal, even as I was getting ready to leave at about 12:15pm. I'll note that most (all?) parties walk in through their back door where the parking lot is, and I believe this restaurant is also cash only. With only ~8 official items on the menu, deciding what to order shouldn't be difficult. I was here for the Beef Stew Soup Noodles, which I believe is what they are most famous for. Priced at $19, this definitely isn't the cheapest beef noodle soup in the area, but it's probably the highest quality. I found the flavor of the broth to be phenomenal, and the noodles were perfect in soaking it all up. The beef admittedly wasn't my favorite style, but the leaner pieces were extremely delicious and tender. As one of only 38 restaurants currently in the Los Angeles Times Hall of Fame, I would say Dai Ho is a must-try lunch spot.

Food here is always top tier, But lately the prices have been getting out of hand. Sides are almost the same price as dishes! Other than that, the best minced meat dry noodle (Dan Dan) of its kind. Not many tables to sit, and place is always packed. Try to come early. Hours are limited, which sucks cause it means I can't come during the week cause I get off work too late. I'd come so much more if it was open at least till 5.

Pricey but worth trying. My Taiwanese friend brought me here and highly vouched for its authenticity, and the food absolutely hit the spot. The restaurant itself is no-frills with quick service. There's one main dine-in menu and the rest of the side dishes can be ordered as quick to-go boxes (prices aren't labeled, so be sure to ask). The beef noodle soup and the half & half combo of pork bean and minced meat noodles were our favorites, and the plum juice was perfect for washing everything down. Nice overall for a simple and flavorful meal!

This place has been in the back of my mind for the last couple of months, from it being mentioned as a Michelin Bib Gourmand to me looking up new places to eat in the area. The menu is very simple with limited options which I think is a good thing because then restaurants can focus on the few items being good quality and not bogged down by too many options. We ordered the following: 1. Szechuan dry noodles: The noodles had a good texture of being slightly bouncy when you eat it. Complemented by the sesame sauce which was nice and flavourful. 2. Signature Beef stew noodles: A staple of the restaurant, the beef was tender and juicy when you bite into it. The soup base is authentic, I didn't taste any msg put into it. The portion size wasn't too big that it would make you feel sleepy after eating either, good for a workday lunch. My only gripe with it would be the pricing as $19 for a bowl that size is slightly too high for me. It would be my occasional place to have, but not every month so to say. One thing I should've paid attention to was that this place doesn't accept credit cards; cash, venmo and/zelle mainly. The atmosphere is pretty lax, maybe on a weekend, but it took around 20 mins or so for our noodles to come out. This place open only 3 hours a day, from 1130AM to 230PM, and closed on mondays. I would assume the other reviews remarking on how big of a line you can get would be on weekdays since it's such a small restaurant. Parking: Very limited;however, since it's close to the residential zones you can make due with street parking.

My friends wouldn't stop recommending Dai Ho to me since I'm always on the hunt for some good Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Because of their lunch-only hours, it was hard for me to find a time to come by to try it out. When I saw that they were featured as a Michelin-recognized Taiwanese restaurant, I made time to stop by. It was my and my partner's first meal as a married couple! I heard that there would be a wait before opening, so we arrive at around 11:20am. They have a small parking lot in the back, and there were still a few spots open when we arrive, but there were a couple other cars already there. There wasn't anyone waiting outside, but since it was a Friday there was probably less people waiting around. When we got out of the car around 11:25 though there was a group already waiting out front, but that was the only group. We walked to the front door facing the main street, but when the lady unlocked the door for us she advised that they actually keep that front door locked and have everyone come in through the back door where the parking lot is. We sat down at a table, and the server came to our table to take our orders. Once we were finished with our meal, we went to the front counter to pay. It's cash only here! We both ordered the Beef Noodle Soup ($18), and it took about 20 minutes for both bowls to come out. They have some veggies and side dishes out on display at the front, but we didn't get any this time. I probably will next time though. It was definitely the best beef noodle soup I've had in the US so far. There's plenty of beef pieces, and the broth was so flavorful with a little bit of spice for a small kick, but not too much. There's also a handful of spinach to give a bit of a refreshment from the heaviness of the broth. They also give you a lot of it, and I had enough left over for a second meal. The bowls come out piping hot and it was tough eating it because I wanted to take bigger slurps but I didn't want to burn my tongue either. All my Taiwanese friends, and then myself, approve of the beef noodle soup here. Not sure about the other things on the menu but I know other people have gotten things other than the beef noodle soup here so they can't be bad either. I can definitely see how it's Michelin recognized though. It's a shame that they're only open 3 hours a day though because more people need to get a taste of their beef noodle soup. Just remember that it's cash only.

Known for their Signature Beef Noodle and for good reason! This was what we came here for and it required some pre-planning because they have limited days they are open and hours only during the day. Signature Beef Noodle - Beef was very tender and decent portions, the spicy was spicy but not overly oily, noodles super springy. One of our favorite beef noodle soups in SGV. Sesame sauce dry noodle - same here, the noodles are bouncy and it was the sesame sauce was nutty and plentiful. Squid was pre-packaged. Personally, I don't care for this type of preparation but we still ate it all so there's that lol.

Dai Ho sold out Vegetable Cold Dry Noodles as the Summer Heat is here! This is a local hotspot, known for their no frills service and Michelin radar Noodles. Highly recommend coming here during non peak hours as it can get kind of packed. 1. Beef Stew Soup Noodles - Spicy!!! ***** $18 2. Sesame Sauce Noodles - MAMA's favorite *** $14 3. Minced Meat Noodles $14 Prices are definitely on the premium side and they no longer offer different sizes. It is one size, that's it! The Noodles come out piping hot and it definitely hits the spot.
